The latest LG phone, the LG Shine is a great follow-up to the popular LG Chocolate. The Shine comes loaded with Bluetooth technology which is becoming the industry norm these days.
On first impression, you notice the stainless steel design. It is lightweight and durable, not to mention (not at all surprisingly) shiny and complemented with a brushed metal surface. LG have really found a winning design with this handset.
It’s an ultra sleek phone that doesn’t use the newest technologies but still packs a punch for the average user. This is however as good as it gets as far as new technologies go, no FM radio, digital zoom, flash for camera, or Wi-Fi. The lack of these features make the phone much cheaper, however, than its more expensive counterparts and there are some really great deals available from selected mobile phone retailers.
As far as any other complaints go, the basic memory built-in could be a little more generous, at a mere 70 MB. However, it is important to not get too picky as you can spend literally hundreds of pounds on a mobile if you wanted to and the Shine is actually available from free on a new contract.
There are a number of improvements from the LG Chocolate. First, the camera phone in the LG Shine is a full 2 mega-pixels worth of imaging and secondly there is an expandable memory slot included, which lets you increase your memory to a total of 2 Gigabytes worth of data.
If you are the type who wants a fashionable phone, great features, and a great price, this phone is for you.

How would you like to have maps, GPS navigation and city guides all in one package on your mobile phone? Sounds good? Then check out smart2go – an application released by Nokia a few months ago. It’s one of the most interesting applications I have ever installed on my device. Too bad I can’t take a full advantage of it due to the lack of a GPS receiver.
Smart2go runs on the Nokia E50 just fine although it’s not listed among the supported devices. I downloaded the version for Nokia E61 and used maps and route planning features without any problems. Hopefully Nokia E50 will be soon officially supported so we can take a full advantage of all the functions. Let’s see what we can actually do with smart2go:
smart2go maps
The main part of smart2go are maps. You can download them on the go as you browse different locations or you can [...]

One of the most common questions that keep reappearing on this website or come to my inbox is How to change font size on Nokia E50. I usually reply that there is no official way to increase font size but there exists some kind of workaround. Trick is to change font for something bigger and more readable. I don’t have problems with small font, in fact I prefer it because that way more information fits on the screen. However some people have problems reading it. Here is a guide on how to change the font in your phone (do it on your own risk!):
You’ll need a memory card and a file manager (e.g. Y-Browser or ActiveFile).
1. Open your file manager and navigate to Z:\resources\Fonts
2. Check the names of the files (these are the fonts that are actually used); they have extension .ttf and most likely they are nosnr60.ttf, nssb60.ttf, nstsb60.ttf [...]
